World’s Smallest Working Model Train Layout

jdk1928 questioned:

This is a Z scale model of an N scale train layout–a model of a model. And it works. I built it to sit in the window of a Z scale leisure activity shop on my “real” train layout, the James River Branch. (By the way, it’s about one-third the size of the last one I made.) You can read how it was built here: jamesriverbranch.net

This is a hand-made, one-of-a-kind item. It is not for sale. And if I made one to sell, it would be very expensive.

This really isn’t a train though (it has no wheels or track) – still cool though.

While robotics is cool and all, (I’m really on a Robotics team!) designing, building, programming, and troubleshooting a single robot would take many times longer than to make a simple set up such as this.

    Nice work, Dave!

At this size, track and such would be all but invisible; as it is, the train can barely be seen by the unaided eye.

I was expecting a track and such, but still pretty clever!
